― History ―

JaSECT was originally established as the Japanese Society of Extracorporeal Circulation Technology in 1976. In addition, the name was revised in the Japanese Society of Extra-Corporeal Technology in Medicine in 2005. Moreover, JaSECT has been developed and led a lot of academic studies that are included with advanced studies on extracorporeal circulation technology and research papers.

― Purpose ―

JaSECT is the premier organization providing education, training, research, and data management for the advancement of extracorporeal circulation technology.

The purpose of society is to contribute enhancement and progress of medical health care through the development of extracorporeal circulation technology.

― Activities ―

Seeking the improvement and progress of research and studies as well as to provide the high-quality technique of extracorporeal circulation for patients.

Performing the academic conference and the educational seminars for lifelong education; are two significant undertakings that are each held annually. In addition, we publish a quarterly journal, conduct various studies and make recommendations on safety measures.

― The system for certified clinical perfusionists (CCP) ―

-Established in 1987

-CCP is positioned as an advanced certification for the clinical engineer

Someone is interested in working as a perfusionist at a hospital in Japan, the clinical engineer license is required in Japan. Please get in touch with us!

-Must have at least one CCP in Japan.

< Qualifications of CCP Exam >

-Active member of JaSECT and JSAO

-A person who works as a full-time employee and has perfusion-related experiences in the following years in the institute (including related institutes) that is certified by The Certification Board of Cardiovascular Surgery Specialists. A part-time employee could not be qualified.

Clinical Engineer …………………………  At least three years of experience

Nurse ……………………………………….  At least three years of experience

-Earn the required number of credits for JaSECT Educational Curriculum

-Participate in a JaSECT Educational Seminar

-Participate in one or more of JSAO Educational Seminar

-Participate in seminars held by JATS, JSCVS and JSAO, and acquire the least 10 credits

-At least 30 cases of clinical perfusion practices (Main operator or supervisor)

Written test (two hours) and interview

< Renewal the certification >

The certification is renewed every five years.

Requirements:

-Participate in seminars held by JATS, JSCVS and JSAO, and acquire the least 10 credits in the last 5 years (Including renewal year)

-Participate in the least one JaSECT Educational Seminar in the last 5 years (Including renewal year)

-Work as a full-time employee. A part-time employee could not renew.

-At least 30 cases of clinical perfusion practices in the last 5 years.
